Dr. LOUISE GASTON, Ph.D. - Psychologue
R�sum� des qualifications et expertises
Depuis 1980, Dr. Gaston pratique diverses approches psychoth�rapeutiques
qu'elle a apprises dans le cadre de supervisions et de formations �chelonn�es sur plus
de 13 ann�es. Depuis 1986, elle diagnostique et traite des individus pr�sentant un
D�sordre de Stress Post-Traumatique (DSPT). Elle participe r�guli�rement aux
conf�rences de la "International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies". En
1990, elle a fond� une clinique sp�cialis�e, appel�e TRAUMATYS Inc. Dans le
cadre d'un programme de formation avanc�e, Dr. Gaston y a d�j� form� plus de 70
cliniciens dans le diagnostic et le traitement des DSPT aupr�s de plus de 1,500
individus. Depuis 1992, Dr. Gaston travaille comme expert en DSPT. Au Canada, elle a
effectu� plus de 1,000 �valuations de victimes d'actes criminels, d'accident�s du
travail, d'individus demandant un statut de r�fugi� et d'individus visant une
indemnisation. Elle a t�moign� dans le cadre de plusieurs contextes l�gaux au Canada.
En 1988, Dr. Gaston a compl�t� des �tudes post-doctorales de 2
ann�es portant sur les DSPT et la recherche en psychoth�rapie au d�partement de
psychiatrie de l'Universit� de Californie � San Francisco, sous la supervision de Dr.
Mardi Horowitz, M.D., auteur de "Stress Response Syndrome", et Dr. Charles
Marmar, M.D., ex-pr�sident de la "International Society for Traumatic Stress
Studies". Elle a acquis une expertise dans le processus et l'efficacit� de la
psychoth�rapie, tant pour la d�pression que les DSPT. Par apr�s, elle est devenue
professeur adjoint au d�partement de psychiatrie de l'Universit� McGill, o� elle y a
conduit plusieurs projets de recherche, dont un subventionn� par le "National
Institute of Mental Health".
En tant que chercheur, Dr. Gaston a collabor� avec de nombreux
coll�gues dans le cadres de diverses �tudes, et elle a particip� � toutes les phases
